Time to Cleanse!

Anyone feeling a little fluffy & ICK after the holidays? I did great during Thanksgiving. I maybe had a couple things I don't usually eat, but overall, I didn't stuff my face & subsequently didn't gain weight. December seemed to be a constant bombardment of all things sweet & glutenous. Definitely too many exceptions made on my part! So naturally, it's time to make some changes!

Some girls in my oils team are doing this challenge for the month -


I eat like this in general, so it's not too hard for me to cut it out all together - but NO exceptions, no treats. Except the chocolate part - I'm still going to eat chocolate. I find that in general, I do really well with moderation. I don't feel like I'm depriving myself of all things delicious if I let myself have a bit here & there. I don't do as well with all or nothing. 

Every January, the Hubs follows the Daniel Fast, which basically means no refined sugar, no processed foods, no dairy, no grains except brown rice & quinoa, etc. Lots of veggies, legumes, fruits, healthy fats. This is how I cook during the month of January (& I do cook like this a lot anyways) which will make my own personal eating plan much easier. 

So here is my month's eating plan:

Breakfast: two hard boiled eggs, an apple with almond butter, or a Balance Complete smoothie with almond milk & frozen mixed berries or cherries.

Lunch: rice with roasted veggies, or leftovers from the week

Snacks: fruit, nuts, peppers with hummus

Dinner: Daniel Fast-friendly dinner

Occasional after-dinner snack: air-popped popcorn with olive oil & salt

Drinks: coffee (for me, not for the Hubs), water with oils, tea, kombucha

Like I said before, I'm allowing myself to eat chocolate (I only eat small bits, no crazy binging or anything - I'm a responsible chocolate eater :) ), & I will allow myself a couple of "treats" this month because it's my birthday month! (Yes birthday MONTH.)
