My Nighttime Face Routine

I wear makeup on a regular basis. I wear under-eye cream, powder, blush, liquid liner and mascara. I'm crazy about liquid liner. One long swipe on the top eye. It's simple and yet dramatic. So fun!

It's also a pain to remove.

After playing with different natural methods and oils, I found the easiest and most efficient way to remove my makeup with minimal coon eyes and scrubbing. (Remember, eye tissue is sensitive, be gentle)

A side note: Don't go to bed with makeup on. Please! If you don't, it can cause the breakdown of collagen (meaning more wrinkles) and cause acne. Give your skin a chance to breathe and repair.

Here is my process:

Homemade face wash: I use a face wash made with water, Dr Bronners, and thieves oil. (I switch out with tea tree and lavender, as well) This isn't for everyone. Use what works with your skin type (mine is oily).

Coconut Oil: I first will wet my eyes a bit to moisten my makeup. Then I put a dab of coconut oil on a cotton ball or toilet paper (not weird as it sounds; it's strong and wipes makeup off fast) and gently swipe across my eyes. Do not freak out if some coconut oil gets in your eyes and makes your vision fussy. This happens when I'm not careful. It doesn't hurt and it's nothing to freak out over. Just annoying.

Toner: I made a toner of 2 parts water, 1 part apple cider vinegar. I recommend Braggs. I put this in a spray bottle and just shake and spray a light mist on my face. You can just use a cotton ball if you like. Let it dry.

Lotion: I apply a lotion of coconut oil mixed with lavender and frankincense essential oils. I also love to use Hemp 360. Now, not every face can handle coconut oil. Jojoba, almond, and olive oil are all great as well. My skin just absorbs coconut quickly and I never break out (even with an oily skin tone!).
