How We Keep Our Immune Systems Strong

So, you know the time of year. People start taking precautions to hopefully avoid getting sick, as we see it running rampant through schools, workplaces, & the church kid's ministry. Agh! Sometimes it's enough to make you want to hide in your house until April. But, I'd go nuts. So instead, we do what we can to keep our immune systems strong.

Here are some of the things we do:

Daily Vitamins: We all take multi-vitamins. Well, Doodles doesn't, but now he's old enough so I need to start him on them.

Cod Liver Oil: I'm going to attempt to do a post on this soon, but we take cod liver oil every day. It helps keep our bodies healthy & is also a good source of Omega 3s.

Probiotics: Did you know that most of your immune system is in your gut? It's so important to consume probiotics in order to keep your gut full of good bacteria (especially if you are ever on an antibiotic!). The Hubs & I take capsules & I put powder in the boys' water. Fermented foods are a wonderful source of probiotics - but we don't eat them. Haha. Sooo capsules it is.

Essential Oils: Essential oils aid in boosting the immune system & encouraging the body's natural defenses. I diffuse them almost daily, & put Thieves on the boys' feet before they go to school, & other times as needed. We all apply oils topically every day. Based on what I know specific oils to do, I will use other oils when I feel they are needed in a particular situation.

Ningxia Red: The Hubs & I drink 1 oz of Ningxia Red daily, & the boys drink it every other day. We all love it & not only does it help boost our immune system, but it helps increase & sustain overall energy. It does a lot of other things that I can't mention here. :)

I keep a lot of things around the house outside of this list just in case we need them, but these are the things we do daily to try to prevent any yuckies in our house!
