pH Balancing

Lately I have been learning about the importance of having a pH balanced body.

When I first began using oils, I heard a friend talking about having a balanced pH. I had heard of it but never thought much about it, so I began doing some research. I will spare you the boring science terms. If you want to check out some simple and easy explanations, check out here and here. When your body is either too acidic or too alkaline, it can cause some serious health issues.

Now, I know for a fact that my body is too acidic. There are easy tests you can take found in the links I gave above. Basically I have learned that when the body is too acidic, it will begin to pull minerals from your bones to try to counteract the imbalance. So, my body is working overtime to keep me healthy, because my diet is not doing a good enough job! I am putting myself at risk to suffer from osteoporosis, fatigue, a low immune system, weight gain and more. I don't know about you, but I want to have a good immune system to fight off all these winter illnesses!

I have been working hard on my diet to maintain this balance. There are some great references out there on alkaline and acidic foods. I was surprised to see some of my favorite healthy foods are highly acidic! So I keep charts handy in my home.

My favorite alkaline snack: avocado spread on sprouted bread (I buy Ezekiel brand), topped with alfalfa sprouts. SO GOOD. Alfalfa sprouts are an amazing super food. They are crammed with vitamins, protein, good for the heart, blood health and weight loss. Soon I will show you all how you can sprout your own at home! It's easy.

If you use Pinterest, feel free to check mine out. I recently started an alkaline board so that I can focus more on meals that can help my body find a good balance.
