Natural Deodorant that WORKS!

I've had a few questions, based on my intro post, about what kind of deodorant I wear. I make my own & it works really well! When I decided to stop using antiperspirant, I tried several different "natural" deodorants - you know, the kinds you find at Whole Foods. Either they weren't really so natural after all (always read the ingredient list & know what you are looking for!) or they just plain didn't work. So I decided to try a deodorant recipe that my friend Laura used, based on the one found at Passionate Homemaking.

4 T coconut oil
1/4 c baking soda
1 oz. beeswax
1/4 c arrowroot powder
Essential oils - lavender, tea tree (melaleuca), etc.

Melt the coconut oil & beeswax together, then whisk in the powder & baking soda. Add oils. Pour the mixture into an old, cleaned out deodorant stick, & stick it in the fridge to cool.

I wasn't able to measure the beeswax so I ended up putting in too much which made it a little hard to rub on (so the hubs won't use it). I also put probably 10 drops total of two oils (I don't remember what I used) but I can't really smell them. I can mainly smell the honey scent from the beeswax. So I'll use more EOs next time.

I'm not a huge sweat-er, so I don't use this daily, mainly just when I work out. But it works! Give it a try & let us know what you think!
